Driving through was beautiful and the signs that tell the story of the area were very interesting. The main building also had several exhibits and such to view.

Go when birds are migrating.

This is a pretty and peaceful place with a nice and informative visitor center. There's a circular paved one way course that you drive - past water and woods - and there are a few places to park and get out at scenic overlooks and to walk paths toward the water and through small parts of the woods if you like. Unfortunately the day we were there we actually saw fairly few geese and swans - we went late November which was supposed to be a really good time to go, but we just didn't have great luck that day. Although we did see a bald eagle near the woods at the water's edge - very neat. And we did see a few flocks sitting in the water at various points. When I was younger I remember coming with my parents in November and seeing many flocks of geese flying in unison across the sky - it was really a pretty sight - but you won't see that every time. Still it's fairly scenic and not costly ($3.50 pp honor pay at the entrance in an envelope - so you do need to have cash). The gift shop at the visitor center is also worth a visit. There are also restrooms there. Bring your binoculars bc most of the birds were sitting a fair distance away. The whole thing took us around an hour or maybe less to drive through - it could take more or less time depending on what you see and how many times you stop.

Well worth the drive. Great photo opportunity

The people there are very knowledgeable and its such a beautiful neat and quiet place. My kids enjoyed their visit

Representative really knew of area and attractions in that specific refuge. Very clean. Good info in tour of facility. Would highly recommend this nature refuge site.
